On December 7, VTB will host the 14th VTB RUSSIA CALLING! Investment Forum in Moscow. The theme of the event will be “Making Deglobalization: Uniting Sovereign Economies.” The investment forum has been historically held in Moscow.
During the Forum, representatives of the Government, Russian and international leading companies will explore the trajectory of the Russian economy and the most effective strategies for strengthening countries’ monetary sovereignty in the current environment.
The agenda of the Forum was summed up by VTB President and Chairman of the Management Board of Directors Andrey Kostin: “Amid the changing economic paradigm, the consolidation of the most active part of our society – the entrepreneurs – is especially crucial. The economy is currently focused on introducing and implementing breakthrough technologies, executing infrastructure projects, and creating new financial instruments. Many of these goals can be reached only through cooperation. It is not only about globalization anymore, but about partnerships and mutual investments. At what stage of the process are we right now, what kind of risks and opportunities lie ahead of us, where do we find stimuli for transformation – we will try to find answers to these questions at the RUSSIA CALLING! Forum.”
The changes in the political, financial and information landscape pose new challenges for the gradual development of national economies and international cooperation.
“As a bank specializing in foreign trade services, VTB has the largest network of affiliated banks and foreign branches out of Russian banks,” commented Olga Basha, Head of International Settlement Development at VTB.“We are the only Russian bank with a financial license in China, and over the past two years, the number of settlements through our banking network has grown exponentially. We expect this trend to continue and contribute to the mutual growth of our economies through the continued strengthening of the relationship between Russia and China.”
VTB has been operating in the Chinese market for 15 years and is currently investing in the development of its branches, increasing staff and working to expand the scale of business and the technological platform of the Shanghai branch. VTB is also seeking to tap other opportunities in the Chinese market, such as providing gold on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and trading in yuan-denominated financial instruments. VTB’s goal is to develop the services of the Shanghai branch and create a bank that combines a large Russian client base and advanced foreign trade experience.
Investment Forum “RUSSIA CALLING!” has been held since 2009. Every year the event attracts an authoritative audience, including representatives of government agencies, heads of Russian and international companies, and investors. The agenda of the forum covers the most pressing issues of the global economy, finance and business sectors.
